Manchester United defender Wes Brown is on the verge of a move to Sunderland and is expected to undergo a medical on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old has been linked with a move to the Black Cats for a while, but with clubs now back in pre-season the deal is nearing a conclusion.
If the deal goes through as expected, it would end Brown's near-15-year spell at Old Trafford.
Brown is set to be followed to the Stadium of Light by fellow defender John O'Shea as Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson freshens up his squad. Sunderland boss Steve Bruce could even make it a triple swoop, with midfielder Darron Gibson also heavily linked with a move.
Phil Jones, David de Gea and Ashley Young have all arrived at Old Trafford, while rumours persist that a big money move for Inter Milan ace Wesley Sneijder is in the pipeline.
